Slip ring transmits electrical power and signals from stationary part to rotary part. It is suitable for systems with continuous, intermittent or discontinuous turns. The slip ring prevents the cables from being damaged during transmission between the moving parts and the fixed part. At the same time, performance increases.
The slip ring consists of three main parts:
The brush part is driven on the ring and the connection between the rotating part and the fixed part is provided. Thus, electrical power and signals are transmitted.
It is basically divided into 4 main groups.
In this slipring type, as a result of the contact of the brush and the ring, the electrical power and signal in the fixed structure are transferred to the rotating part.
Over time, due to the friction of the brush and the ring, the slip ring wears out and becomes unable to transmit. Therefore, mercury slip rings are used as an alternative.
By reflecting the light, it transfers the fixed electrical signal to the moving part.
Sliprings are produced in different shapes and sizes. It can be in many forms such as miniature, capsule, internal diameter, pancake, mercury, cordless, plug-in shaft. At the same time, many sliprings are produced according to the customer's needs or the desired IP protection class.
Areas of use: It is used in many applications such as industrial automation systems, medical applications, textile systems, alternative energy applications, robotic applications, especially in the defense industry.
Sliprings affect the performance of the system. It determines the insulating property, anti-interference property and contact resistance performance of the slipring. The insulation between the conductors and the outer layer should be as high as possible. The distance between the rings in the slip ring is small. For this reason, channels cause electrical or magnetic interference to each other during transmission, causing the signals to deteriorate. In order to prevent this deterioration, electric field protection and electromagnetic protection are applied. If the contact resistance between the ring and the brush is too high, signal transmission may be adversely affected or the slip ring may burn out.
