What is the Encoder?

Rotary and Linear Encoder
They are electromechanical devices that detect the rotational or translational motion of the shaft to which it is connected, thanks to magnetic, mechanical, resistive and optical technologies, and generate a digital electrical signal from this perceived data and give analog or digital output. In projects requiring high precision, it converts the position, direction of rotation, speed of movement, and axis of a motor into an electrical signal and presents it to the user.
A linear encoder detects linearmovements of object . Object movements along a path or line are controlled by a linear encoder. It is especially used in machines where length and cutting movements are involved.
Linear encoders can be incremental or absolute. Movement can be determined by position or position change over time. There are types of linear encoder systems according to the intended use.
